Titletown Muskies Inc. is pleased to announce their student scholarship essay contest. Students who will graduate in 2009 are encouraged to enter the scholarship essay contest by writing a two to three page essay on the practice and benefits of catch and release.
ABOUT MUSKIES INC. AND THE BEST OF THE BEST TOURNAMENT
Muskies Inc., an organization of over 7,500 members with chapters in 15 states, is an active, service-oriented, non-profit organization with the single focus of improving the sport of muskie fishing for men, women, and children. This scholarship contest is one aspect of the Best of the Best Muskies Inc. International Muskie Fishing Tournament, an annual tournament. This year’s tournament will be held on the Fox River and lower bay of Green Bay on October 10, 11, and 12, 2008.
Prizes:
- First, Second and There’d Place Winners Will be taken on a guided fishing expedition the weekend after the Muskies Incorporated’s Best of the Best 2008 Tournament. In addition to the guided fishing expedition, each winner will receive a cash scholarship depending on funds raised.
Judging:
All submissions will be judged on style, content, grammar, and originality. The judges will look for clear, concise writing that is original, articulate, logically organized, and well-supported. Winning essays must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the practice and benefits of catch and release.
Rules and Conditions:
- Entrant must be a full-time student who will graduate in the spring of 2009
- Essay must be at least two and no more than three double-spaced pages, computer or typewritten
- All essays must be the original sole work of the entrant
- All essays must be postmarked no later than September 18, 2008
- Decisions of the judges are final and binding
- Winners will be notified by phone on or before October 1, 2008
- All entries will become the property of Muskies Incorporated and will not be returned
- Scholarships will be awarded in the name of the student and the student’s high school. If the student does not choose to further his or her education at a two or four year university, the scholarship will be given to the student’s high school to be distributed to another student (as selected by the school’s guidance counselor).

Essays should be submitted along with a cover letter that includes the following details:

- Your High School Name
