Tournament Rules

1 DESIGNATED TOURNAMENT WATERS in Barron, Eau Claire,Chippewa & Rusk Counties are:

Old Abe - from Cornell Dam to Jim Falls Dam

Wissota - from Jim Falls Dam to Wissota Dam
Upper Chippewa and Flambeau Rivers - Chippewa River from Hwy 8 in Bruce to County D bridge above Holcombe Flowage. Flambeau River from below Dairyland Flowage to confluence of Chippewa/Flambeau Rivers.


2 Fish Registration Information: You are required to register your released fish by phone DAILY using the fish registration hotline at 888-726-6733. Contestant MUST clearly state their first name, last name, address, city, state, phone number, length of Musky, name of the lake, date and time it was caught. If there is a phone number where you can be reached during the tournament, please provide that as well. Releases MUST be phoned in by 10:00 P.M. on the day of catch or they will be disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! It is YOUR responsibility to bring your release forms to Tournament Headquarters by 12:00 Noon on Sunday, September 14th, 2008. Failure to do so, will result in disqualification. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! Daily results will be posted at Tournament Headquarters.

3 All fish must be caught during tournament hours. Tournament Hours are from 6:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon and 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on September 12th and 13th, and from 6:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on September 14th, 2008. All contestants must be OFF the water from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM September 12th and 13th. NR20.08.

4 All fish catches must be documented on Contest Entry Blanks (release forms) which will be available at Tournament Headquarters or at RELEASE STATIONS. The following RELEASE STATIONS have been established. East Bay = Fireside Resort = Wonderspot = The Narrows Resort = Wissota View

5 Fish must be returned to the water alive, in the presence of one witness, The witness does not have to be a tournament contestant. Witness must sign the release form and provide their address and phone number. The date and time of your catch must be entered on the release form. Release forms MUST BE LEGIBLE and the Tournament Committee must be able to verify, or your release can be disqualified!! A fish taken off the water is a kept fish. Do not transport a fish you are going to release.

THE FOLLOWING POINT SYSTEM WILL BE USED A 34 inch release in will count as 8 points. In addition, you will receive one (1) point for each inch or fraction of an inch over 34" measured to the nearest 1/4 inch. Example: 34-1/4 inches is 8 points plus 1/4 point for a total of 8-1/4 points. Pure strain and Hybrid muskies are eligible.

6 To count sub 40" fish on 40" water you MUST have a witness with you. You can not transport a sub 40" fish on 40" water! Do not transport undersized fish! A transported fish is a kept fish according to DNR rules even if released.

7 All fish must be caught on legal sport fishing tackle. No live or dead bait allowed! Motor trolling is allowed where legal.

8 All boat operators must sign an affidavit that they have $100,000 worth of liability insurance.

9 Juniors aged 17 or younger follow the same rules as the adults; the only difference is the reduced entry fee.

10 All occupants in your boat must be registered tournament contestants
, including guides which are permitted.

11 All Wisconsin fishing and boating regulations must be obeyed.
Be courteous to all other boaters - use good fishing etiquette!

12 Any protest of violations of tournament rules must be presented to the Tournament Committee in writing, prior to the Awards Ceremony. The Tournament committee's decisions are final.

13 In case of ties, the longest fish will be used; if fish length is tied, then a flip of a coin will be used.

14 Any fish taken into actual possession by an individual and not released immediately, shall be included as part of the individual's daily bag limit, NR20,07(1)(f). An angler may retain a fish only so long as is necessary to unhook the fish and determine its length. Any fish that is held or transported must be considered part of the angler's daily bag.
