About
the First WI Chapter of Muskies, Inc.
Located in the Eau
Claire/Chippewa Falls area of NW Wisconsin, the First WI Chapter is a leader
in building a better Muskie fishery in Chippewa and Rusk Counties.
The First WI Chapter
is one of over 40 chapters in the United States. Our club members are primarily
from the Chippewa Valley but we have members from as far away as Texas.
We are not limited to "dyed in the wool" muskie fisherman, everyone
is welcome!
Please join
us. Our general membership meetings are
open to everyone. Throughout the year, we have featured speakers and
"on the water" gatherings on Lake Wissota plus an annual tournament.

attend. Board Meetings are held the third Monday of every month. Meetings
are held at the Chippewa Rod and Gun Club on Lake Wissota during the months
of May-Sept. All other months, the meetings are held at the Gander Mountain
Lodge in Eau Claire.
Publications
Members of the First WI Chapter receive a club news letter called "The
Follow Up". This news letter will keep you up to date with
club activities and programs. The "MUSKIE" magazine is the official magazine
of Muskies Inc. It is mailed out monthly and gives you information on
muskie fishing plus the activities of Muskies Inc International and
other chapters.
Tournament
The club has an annual tournament in
September. It is held on the Chippewa River system, from the Pope & Talbot
Dam in Eau Claire (Dells Pond) to U.S. Hwy. 8, the Flambeau River from
the Chippewa River to the Big
Falls Dam, Lower Long, Sand, Island, McCann, Clear, Fireside, Amacoy,
Potato and Chain. This is the clubs largest fund raiser.
Rearing
Pond
The club has a muskie rearing pond in Island Lake, WI. Every spring, we
acquire muskie fingerlings that the club nurtures in the ponds. By
early Fall, the young muskies are between 9 to 12 inches in length
and are released into local waters with the supervision of local WDNR fish
managers. We have stocked thousands of young Muskies into local waters
over the years.

Members
Only Fishing Contest
The "Members Only" fishing
contest recognizes angler achievements for releasing muskies in four categories
along with "Lunker of the Month" awards. Five members are selected to represent the
local chapter at the International Awards Banquet.
Information
As a Muskie Inc member, you have access to a computerized database that
is used to store information on thousands of muskie releases. Our local
chapter has a tagging program that allows members to keep track of
re-captures of specific fish.
Outings
We have numerous outings throughout the year that promote muskie fishing
and camaraderie. The club sponsors teams to participate in the Larry
Kleeba State Chapter Challenge as well as the Gil Hamm International Challenge.
An annual banquet is held in January.
